What is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an alternative healthcare model that enhances the provider-patient relationship. DPC practices do not bill insurance for office visits and instead offer affordable, transparent pricing for services. Eliminating the burden of healthcare insurance claims and disputes allows DPC practices to have fewer patients and spend a greater amount of time on what really matters, the patient. This improves the accessibility of the healthcare provider and provides greater service to each patient.

Many DPC practices (including Refine Medical) also offer 24/7 access to the healthcare provider through text, email, phone, or video chat. With Refine Medical, you will also see the same provider at each visit and for all after hours concerns. This can eliminate unnecessary trips to urgent care centers and improves continuity of care.

Many DPC members will choose a high-deductible (“catastrophic”) healthcare plan and use their membership to cover the vast majority of healthcare concerns. Many patients utilize an HSA account to cover DPC associated costs. It is also a great option for small businesses to be able to offer a cost-effective healthcare solution for their employees.

Refine Medical’s services include: managing chronic disease, performing wellness exams, hormone replacement, weight loss management, functional testing, natural supplement recommendations, IV therapies, sick/acute care visits, and minor procedures.

Monthly memberships include all office visits and after-hours consults. We offer wholesale pricing on labs (drawn in house!), stocked medications, and testing (urinalysis, EKG, strep/flu/COVID). We have partnerships with imaging facilities and specialists to facilitate quick access for our members.

How is direct primary care different?

Our mission is to provide you with compassionate, affordable, high-quality primary care without insurance interference. Refine Medical members enjoy the benefit of longer visits with shorter wait times and unlimited access to their provider for health concerns.

Do you take insurance or Medicare?

In short, no. Our providers work for you - not an insurance company. Your monthly membership fee covers all office, virtual, and phone visits. However, we are happy to bill insurance for labs and imaging. You can also use your insurance for medications filled at a pharmacy, but you may find our at-cost rates are less than what you typically pay out of pocket with insurance.

Will I have a co-pay?

No. All office, virtual, and phone visits are included in the membership. That means no surprise bills – ever.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. However, good primary care is based on a long-term relationship, so we hope that you keep this membership long-term. If you feel that this membership is not serving your healthcare needs, you can cancel at anytime and we will forward your records to your new primary care physician.
